We're standing near the Hasegg Castle in Hall-in-Tirol, looking through an archway of the old city walls of medieval Hall. Old mixes with new here: cars wind their way through narrow medieval streets, and the most modern of wares are sold from shops tucked away along those streets. The prosperity required to maintain these old buildings requires a modern economy, so what appear to be anachronistic contradictions may be necessary contradictions too.
