We're standing in Innsbruck's Altstadt or Old Town, and we're looking at the Goldenes Dachl, or Golden Roof. This porch and its roof of gold-clad copper tiles dates from the reign of the Emperor Maximillian in the late 1400s. To the left is another medieval builidng, Heibling Haus, but it got a thorough Baroque cover in the 1700s. The square in front of the Goldenes Dachl is the heart of Innsbruck's tourism, as this picture shows.
