We're standing on Innrain, a street parallel to the Inn in western Innsbruck, looking at the Universitätshauptgebäude, the grand old building that houses the University of Innsbruck's Law School. Innsbruck has been a seat of learning since 1562, and the Emperor Leopold I founded the University in 1669. Today the University of Innsbruck is a major research university, and it has about 23,000 students.
