We're standing on the high bridge over the Inn at Imst, looking east (downriver). To the right is Imst's train station, or bahnhof, on a bit of floodplain. To the left of the Inn is another bit of floodplain with a field of corn. As the valley narrows in the distance, the B171 highway plunges into a short tunnel at mid-left. The A12 Autobahn is completely invisible here because it goes to ground in a five-kilometer-long tunnel through this narow part of the Inn Valley This narrowing of the Inn valley to a canyon will be even more evident in the view from our next stop.
