The following document is provided as "written form" instruction, intended to highlight the standard responsibilities that each participant will face during the Summer Field Program. It should be pointed out that this is a "best-faith effort" to list, as completely as possible, all aspects of the position (not including emergency situations).

Individual Tasks - every day (usually in this order)

• Have packed gear at cargo truck loading area 15 min. prior to announced time,
• Prepare adequate drink, lunch, and snacks for the day,
• Eat breakfast, and
• Participate in daily group activities/studies.

Crew Tasks - permanent assignments consisting of 6 - 8 students

Van Crew - done at each gas stop

• Clean all van windows and running lights,
• Inspect tires and check tire pressure,
• Check motor fluid levels, and
• Fill gas tanks (except in Oregon).

Tent Crew - done at every campsite unless notified

• Setup/breakdown staff tents
• Setup/breakdown study tents.

Cargo Crew - done at every campsite

• Load/unload gear immediately upon departure/arrival to camp, and
• Mornings; arrive at truck ten minutes before gear is due.

Kitchen Tasks - starting alphabetically, in groups of four, and rotated every 9^th meal.

• Arrive at kitchen 30 min. before announced meal time
• Make drinks for day/meal
• Assist cook with food preparation
• Assist cook with water retrieval
• Assist cook with kitchen clean-up

Things to know and remember

Kitchen crew packs lunch first and no lunch until the cargo truck is loaded with tent/duffel gear.

Announced breakfast time signals all other times. Ex. A 6:30 AM breakfast means;

• 5:15 Suggested camp wake up
• 5:45 Kitchen crew reports to kitchen
• 5:50 Ryder crew reports to loading area
• 6:00 Gear due at cargo truck
• 6:15 Lunch preparation begins
• 6:30 Breakfast
• 7:00 Departure
  

All announced times are hard and fast, sticking to them is a good idea. Late gear gets to ride with the owner in the van. Anyone not completing assigned tasks gets an extra day.
