Service for Geological Agencies and Organizations
1992-present: refereed research proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation (Tectonics Division, Petrology and Geochemistry Division, Instructional Technology Research - Small Grants Program)
1999-2001: Member and chairperson (2001) of the Best Paper Committee of the Geological Society of America, Division of Structural Geology and Tectonics.
1995: Served on the funding panel for the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. This panel evaluated all proposals submitted to the program and then allocated funding.
1994-1995: Served in the Working Group for the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. This program sought to coordinate geologic mapping investigations by Federal agencies, State agencies and academic institutions for the purpose of developing and enhancing geologic map information for the nation. The function of the working group was to present a specific plan for cooperative geologic mapping to the U.S. Geological Survey and Congress.
Departmental Committees (University of Georgia, Department of Geology)
2003/2004: Serving on Department of Geology Space Committee
2002/2003: Served on Graduate Admissions Committee, Department of Geology
2001/2002, 2000/2001: Served on the funding Committee for the Wheeler-Watts and Allard Funds in the Department of Geology. This committee evaluates proposals from graduate students for research funding and funding for travel to scientific meetings, and allocates awards to students from these two funds.
